RFID and WiMAX
While many are aware of the new standard in Wireless internet acess, also known as WiMAX few are aware of the actual ramifications of the technology. I am a firm believer in the technology and am acutely aware of the overall bennefit to society. Case in point is the recent auction of the 700mhz spectrum. To the untrained eye this seemed like irrelevant telecom fodder, but what Google did by ensuring the auction reached the bid where the public access spectrum opened; ensured that our lives will become "neater" in the near future. The first implementation will probably be RFID in mass proportions. RFID is already being used in spots but be prepared to not have to swipe anything you buy through a bar code reader. Each item will be tagged with an RFID transmitter that will automatically pick up all of the relevant data when you pass through a "field", you may even be able to walk your items right through the door and pay by an account linked to a payment method of your choice, the "field" would be the front door.There are tons of new technologies that will be emerging soon, so I urge you to take a look over at wimaxlive.org for more information.
